May 2007 - Tour of Switzerland and France

The National Capital Band of The Salvation Army (Bandmaster James B. Anderson) will travel to Switzerland and France on a 10-day tour, 17 – 27 May 2007. The band will be a featured musical guest at the Congress celebrating the 125th anniversary of The Salvation Army in Switzerland, and will play concerts in Bern, Basel and Zürich. After moving into France, the band will participate in several events, including a concert in the village of Fontevraud and an open-air concert in Paris in association with the National Band of France. For many of the members of the band, the highlight of the tour will be a visit to the American memorial at Omaha Beach, where the band will play a concert and participate in the flag-lowering ceremonies.

Friday, 18 May: Arrive Zürich. Free day in Zürich.
Saturday, 19 May: Congress in Bern.; 1200 – Congress Kickoff.; 1430 – Concert at Bundesplatz.; 1530 – Open-air meeting at Bundesplatz.; 2200 – Brass Nocturne.
Sunday, 20 May: Congress in Bern.; 1400 – General's Workshop.; 1530 – Congress Finale.
Monday, 21 May: Travel to Basel.; 1000 – Outdoor concert at town hall.; 1100 – Outdoor concert at Barfüsserplatz.; 1230 – Lunch and tour of Salvation Army Cadet School.; 2000 – Concert at St. Johannes Reformed Church.
Tuesday, 22 May: Travel to Zürich.; 1100 – Outdoor concert, home for the aged, Hottingen.; 1930 – Concert at Wallisellen Reformed Church.
Wednesday, 23 May: Travel to France.; 2030 – Concert in Fontevraud.
Thursday, 24 May: 1515 – Concert and ceremony at Omaha Beach Memorial.
Friday, 25 May: Travel to Orleans.; 1600 – Civic Reception at City Hall.; 2030 – Concert.; 2300 – Depart for Paris.
Saturday, 26 May: Paris.; 1500 – Open-air concert at Jean XXIII Plaza (next to Notre Dame) with the National Band of France.; 1700 – Supper at Boulogne-Billancourt Corps.; 2030 – Concert.
