James B. Anderson became Divisional Music Director of the National Capital and Virginia Division and Bandmaster of the National Capital Band in May 2004.

Stephen Bulla

The second longest serving Bandmaster of the NCB, Stephen Bulla moved to the Washington DC area in 1980 when he won the auditioned position of Staff Arranger with the 'President's Own U.S. Marine Band and White House Orchestra.' After serving in the NCB trombone section for several years, he was selected by B/M Campbell Robinson to be his successor. He then served in this capacity for 15 seasons beginning in 1983. During Bandmaster Bulla's tenure the NCB produced six recordings and embarked on successful international tours that included Australia, New Zealand, all of Scandinavia, Russia, Ukraine and Estonia.

Robert (Bob) Goodier

Bob joined the band in 1963, and logged 37 years of service as a cornet soloist and Band Secretary extraordinaire. Along with Campbell Robinson and Bob Schramm, he was a part of the trio that helped shape the band into the group it is today, providing excellent musicianship coupled with unmatched organizational talent.

Lars-Otto Ljungholm

Lars-Otto Ljungholm moved from Sweden to Washington in 1989 to take up the duties of Divisional Music Director and immediately joined the NCB, eventually succeeding Bob Goodier as principal cornet. He served as Bandmaster of the NCB from 1998 to 2002, when he returned to Sweden, where he is now the Territorial Music Secretary for the Salvation Army.

A. Campbell Robinson

The longest-serving Bandmaster of the National Capital Band, A. Campbell Robinson ("Robbie") served for over 20 seasons, beginning in 1961. When he gave up the baton, he moved onto the solo cornet bench. Also a fine tenor soloist and masterful choral conductor, Campbell continued to lead the NCB in vocal items until his retirement from the band in the mid-1990s.

Robert C. (Bob) Schramm

With 37 years of continuous service (1961-1998), Bob Schramm is one of the longest-serving members of the NCB. He served as Deputy Bandmaster for his entire tenure, and also as librarian, quartermaster, euphonium soloist, and composer-in-residence. Bob was also the first NCV Divisional Music Director (1977-1983) and formed the first Divisional Youth Band.
